When the regular season comes to a
close in late May or early June, Little Leagues everywhere begin preparing for
postseason activities. There are several postseason opportunities for SVLL
players. These include:
- Future Stars Team
- District 44 Tournament of Champions Teams
- All Star Teams
The league typically holds a postseason information
meeting in April to provide families with information on postseason
participation.
Future Stars
District 44
hosts a tournament that spans two weekends in June for select players aged 8
and younger. This team is typically selected from our pool of Farm Division
players, but eligible 8-year-olds playing in the Minors Division (and have not
been named to an All Star team) may be added to this roster.
Sunnyvale
Little League will name the roster for this team at the end of May based on
feedback from our Farm and Minors coaches.
District 44 Tournament of Champions Teams
Beginning
in May, our Juniors, Intermediate, Majors and Minors regular season teams will
play in internal tournaments in their respective divisions (e.g. all SVLL
Majors teams will play each other in an internal tournament). The winner of
each division tournament will advance to the District 44 Tournament of
Champions (often referred to as "TOCs").
This is a single elimination
tournament held between teams from the 10 leagues in our district. If we have
no teams in a specific division, then we will not enter a team in TOCs. The
winner of the Tournament of Champions is awarded a banner that we proudly
display at our league. There is no further play once this tournament concludes.
Families participating in TOCs are required to fulfill additional
volunteer roles. Please see the "Family Volunteer Expectations" section below.
All Star Teams
In May, SVLL will begin
the selection process of All Star Teams. These are teams that participate in
tournaments, that can culminate with a spot in the Little League World Series
in August. SVLL will field single teams in each of the Juniors, Intermediate,
12/11/10, 11/10/9 and 10/9/8 divisions if there are suitable players available
to field a team in that division.
All players who have met a minimum
games played requirement are eligible to be selected for an All Star team, but
there is no guarantee that a player will be selected. Families will be prompted
to declare their child's participation in the selection process, which requires
the player to commit to participate for the entire duration of play which could
run through the end of August.
Families should consider the time,
travel, volunteer and cost commitments before commiting to the selection
process. Please review the
All Star Selection Process before committing to
participate.
Team rosters are typically announced in late May, unless
there are restrictions.
SVLL will field teams in the following
divisions if there are suitable players available:

Being selected for an All Star team is an
honor, and requires a significant time commitment by the player and the
player's family. Players will be expected to attend all scheduled practices and
games. Little League prohibits the naming of alternate players. A player who
leaves a team can be replaced, but once replaced cannot return to the team.
If your son/daughter and family cannot commit to the following
obligations, please let our Upper Division Player Agent know immediately, so
that their name can be removed from consideration for All Star
teams.
Families participating in All Stars are required to fulfill
additional volunteer roles. Please see the "Family Volunteer Expectations"
section below.
Some additional details:
- Player will be available for all scheduled
practices and games.
- Player will need to provide an original proof of
age document - PLEASE NOTE: Little League rules and regulations are extremely
rigid regarding proof of age documentation and if selected, you will be
required to provide ORIGINAL PROOF OF AGE DOCUMENTATION. The original documents
will be collected by a League representative and presented to the District
Administrator. All originals will be returned.
- Player must demonstrate Proof of Residence where
three documents sources will be required (e.g. Utility bill, school records,
voter's registration, driver license, employment etc.). Documents must be dated
between February 1 of the prior year to February 1 of the current year.
- Player has participated in a minimun number of
regular season games.
- All Star play is extremely competitive. District 44
of Little League strongly encourages All Star teams to play to win. In
addition, minimum play rules are different during the All Star tournament
compared to the regular season. Players may be subject to less playing time
compared to the regular season.
- Parents and players must be supportive of manager's
decisions on playing positions and playing time during the All Star tournament.
- Little League prohibits the naming of alternate
players. A player who leaves a team can be replaced, but once replaced cannot
return to the team.
- An additional fee will be collected to cover the

players.
Family Volunteer
Expectations
Families participating in Tournament of Champions
and/or All Stars are expected to fulfill additional volunteer shifts during the
postseason to help cover jobs necessary to host postseason games. Parents must
be willing to volunteer to help with roles, such as facilities/field
preparation, snack shack, BBQ, scorekeeping, pitch count, etc.
An
online sign up sheet will be made available to all parents prior to the start
of the respective tournament their child is participating in.
