New Little
League Bat Standards
Little League Baseball will be adopting
new bat standards as of January 1, 2018. All bats manufactured last year are
now ineligible for use in any Little League activity. In order to participate
in the league, all players must use USA Baseball approved bats.
The
easiest way to identify a legal bat, is to find the USA Baseball stamp, located
on the bat. Most new bats have the USA Baseball stamp located near the bat
handle, above the grip tape.
Here are a couple of examples of a valid
USA Baseball stamp:
We have noticed that some manufacturers are supplying
retailers with decals to affix on to bats. These are being seen on T-Ball level
bats. BE CAREFUL not to purchase a bat that has the decal affixed to the outer
wrapper of a bat. Once you bring the bat home and remove the wrapper, the stamp
will be discarded. There is no way to identify that a bat is legal or not. IT
MUST HAVE THE STAMP ON THE BAT.
Here is an example of a bat that has a
decal slapped on the outer wrapper:
YOU SHOULD NOT PURCHASE A BAT THAT SELLS LIKE THIS.
