Opening Day Postponed / Games To Be Played

As you may have seen, the Santa Clara County Health Department published guidelines in response to the COVID-19 virus earlier this week and updated them today (https://www.sccgov.org/…/…/novel-coronavirus/Pages/home.aspx). One of their recommendations is to “postpone or cancel mass gatherings and large community events”. The Sunnyvale Little League Board of Directors convened a discussion to address these recommendations in context to our Opening Day ceremonies, which were scheduled for this Saturday, March 7th.

Due to the number of players, family members and friends who are likely to attend a ceremony of this nature, the board has decided to exercise an abundance of caution and postpone Opening Day ceremonies until a later date.

We will proceed with all scheduled games on Saturday and beyond, which are spread across multiple venues. As always, please work with your respective team manager on your child’s availability.

For those families who still need to complete age and address verification, we are moving this to the Starbucks on the corner of Fremont Ave and Mary Ave from 9:30am to 11am on Saturday. Please be sure to complete this on Saturday.

We are also still planning on selling SVLL Gear and tickets to the Stanford vs Oregon event scheduled for late April. Reserve tickets online here: https://forms.gle/hbfwTUiujmGx7TGp7 Tables will be setup at Serra Park for these sales.

All snack shacks will be fully operational on Saturday, so those scheduled to work a shift should still report as scheduled.

Weather Contingencies

There is rain in the forecast for Saturday, but as of this posting, we still plan on playing games as scheduled. If it does begin to rain, we will make decisions on game delays during the prescribed warm-up periods. Each respective team manager will communicate any changes. While this isn’t the way we wanted to start the season, keeping our membership safe is our number one priority.
