Remembering Captain Pat
Klokow
As we honor those who made the greatest sacrifice for our
country on this Memorial Day, Sunnyvale Little League would like to take a
moment to recognize one of our own. Captain Pat Klokow was a member of
Sunnyvale (Serra) Little League from 1986 through 1989. He would go on to play
at Homestead High School and then collegiate ball at the United States Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Captain Klokow was an artillery officer
with the 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, serving in Kuwait from January
2003 to March 2003, and was then deployed in Iraq until July 2003.
While serving as a commanding officer of the Instructional Training
Company at the Marine Corps Depot in San Diego, California, Klokow was struck
and killed by an automobile while riding his bicycle while riding to his
assignment.
Captain Klokow was named MVP of the Patriot League
Tournament in 1999 during his senior year at the Naval Academy.
We are
extremely proud to be associated with Captain Klokow and honor his memory,
along with all the service men and women who have paid the ultimate price for
our freedom.
