Juniors All Stars
advance to Section 5 Tournament

The Sunnyvale Little League Juniors All Stars defeated Los
Altos Little League 8-5 on Saturday to cap a District 44 Championship. The
Juniors All Stars did it the hard way by coming back through the Elimination
Bracket, beating Briarwood 12-1 on Thursday night, Los Altos 14-4 on Friday
night, before taking the district crown with a win in the "if necessary" game
at MacDonald High School in San Jose.
The team finished the District
44 Tournament with a 5-1 record, out-scoring their opponents 64-17. Tyler Owen,
Isaiah Cho and Kameron McCray each had 2-RBI in the victory. Owen and Everett
Tung each had a double in the team's 7-hit performance.
Connor Donohue
went the first 4 innings, surrendering 4 earned while racking up 6 strike outs.
Evan Liu earned the victory by tossing 3 innings, allowing a single run in the
6th inning.
The All Stars dropped a tough 5-3 decision to the same
opponent last Tuesday to be pushed into the elimination bracket. Their big win
on Friday night over Los Altos allowed them to gain the momentum in the
tournament that would propel them to the District Championship less than 24
hours later.
The All Stars now advance to the Section 5 Tournament,
which begins on July 5th at Herman Intermediate School in South San Jose. The
team will open that tournament with a tough match-up against the District 12
representative.
